Smoking Cessation
Newham residents can access free expert support to quit smoking through Quit Well Newham, local pharmacies, and NHS services.
Quit Well Newham offers free advice and support for residents who want to stop smoking. The service is run by Queen Mary University of London and provides both face-to-face and remote support. Services include:
- Individual and group sessions: Weekday appointments from 8:30am to 5:30pm, with evening group sessions (6pm–7pm) available by appointment
- Language support: Services are available in English, Bengali, Urdu, Gujarati, Lithuanian, and British Sign Language for those who need it
- Referral options: Residents can self-refer or be referred by a GP or other health professional
- Digital support: Motivational text messages, WhatsApp, and telephone support are available, including a 28-day telephone program for personalised guidance
